There's a Light ... Over at The Rourke-enstein Place

Recently, I posted a picture of a lantern and a heater I refinished, and it was requested that I blog about their transformation. Well, ask and ye shall receive, my friends! Let's start with a glimpse of the finished product:

For this project, I used:
-Two colors of spray paint
-Painters tape
-Potpurri
-Two strings of white battery-operated lights

The before!
The heater is an antique,
the lantern was a hanging light I took the wires out of.

The heater does have some rust on it, I sanded it down enough to make sure that the paint could adhere to the surface well. That complete, I sprayed on my first paint color.

Since part of the pieces had been painted, I had to use paper and painter's tape to protect the finished parts. Once they were covered, I sprayed on my second paint color.

After the paint dried, I reassembled the items. I finished them off by filling them with potpourri and the white lights to make them glow. These were discarded items, that now sit in my living room as gorgeous accent pieces!
